THE MERITS OF DELAYED FLIGHTS

It may completely come off as a joke that delayed flights have their merits when it never entirely outweighs the lost hours, the sudden shift of plans, the unrelenting boredom and let's not forget to take into account the huge effort you engraved into your system so as to defeat lethargy, and be at the the airport 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight.

-------
The worst encounter I had was when my 6am flight got cancelled and I'm left with no option but to take the airlines' next flight which was scheduled at 9am, that's 3 hours after my supposed departure. It was a total buzzkill considering I was travelling alone. I was checking in at around 4am when they informed us thereof. So that's a total of 5 hours and that's a liberal amount of time to spare with nothing in mind and complete lack of direction.

I sat my frustration for the first ten to twenty minutes contemplating (imagining) about matters or facilities that could alleviate the undying bore I already felt, but they are totally far fetched. I dust it off and navigated through my hand-carry what could somehow aid, I gasped in utter gratitude when I saw "Love in the time of Cholera" which I never get to pass first chapter due to the complexity of its entirety. BUT I was able to crawl it over on that time being and figured that instance became a restorative bore.

The following hours became unlooked-for, soul productive, to say the least. I was able to have a healthy discourse with a nun and I have actually gained so much learnings through her wisdom. Talked to a few more strangers who share the same burden of waiting and learned a little about their life, where they're headed to, and a couple more small talks. My mother would tell me it's downright unwise to talk to strangers but it's partially different when you have five hours to spare. And really, there's so much to know from people you don't know. (If that made sense) And it's made easier since most likely it will be your first and last encounter.

I spent the remaining hours drunk on caffeine and drowned with my thoughts. From all that, I was able to establish a time frame of activities I will most likely be doing when I reach my destination, pen down three poems and one article, listed down food items I will reward myself once I accomplish my endeavors, and the next thing I knew I was boarding the flight.
------------

*Heaves* So bet on me, this is a great time to actually be in a state of healthy reverie. To update few texts from that book you seemingly can't finish. To gain input from the tirelessly waiting stranger next to you. To have a meaningful and profound conversation with the person you are travelling with. To dig deeper into your thoughts and rethink things, and finally make a structured output of your goals, your potential plans and upcoming activities for the incoming week. These are things we don't get to do frequently due to work and time constraints, but when outright faced with circumstances that left us with a huge amount of free time to deal (or to kill) with, we are set to mandatorily explore those that are abovementioned. And also, be reasonably caffeinated.
